A new report by the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has revealed the true scale of the crisis in our NHS A&Es. 

7 in 10 of the nurses surveyed said that they have been forced to deliver care in corridors, car parks and other places not designed to provide the best care to patients. According to the RCN, the survey which received responses from over 5000 NHS nurses revealed that “more than nine in ten (90.82%) of them say patient safety is being compromised.”

This is the result of decades of underfunding and cuts to NHS services, including cuts to the NHS’s urgent and emergency care services across the country.

Below We Own It reveals a list of 112 emergency health services (walk-in centres and A&Es), which have been closed or in a few cases downgraded since 2010. 

We are encouraging the government to invest in the required staffing, social care, equipment and capital refurbishments needed to re-open as many of these closed facilities as possible. The private sector cannot help fix this crisis because the private sector does not have A&Es.
