What is We Own It?
We Own It is a campaigning organisation. We are against privatisation and we make the case for public ownership.
We love public services. Trains, water, energy, care work, council services, the NHS. We believe they make life better for you, me and everyone. They are super useful and really important, for our children, parents and grandparents, our friends, our colleagues and our communities. We all use public services every day.
But privatisation is damaging our public services. We've been told myths about privatisation for over 30 years. We don't believe them anymore, if we ever did. It's time for a new common sense about the public services we love.
Do you love public services too? Join us.
What have we achieved so far?
Since launching in 2013 we've
- Got our message out in the media, appearing on Channel 4 News, Sky News, Radio 4 and in the Mirror, Guardian and Financial Times
- Won campaign victories, helping to stop privatisation of Network Rail and the Land Registry
- Made the case that selling off profitable public assets doesn’t make sense – in just 10 years’ time we’ll be losing money on the Royal Mail sale
- Carried out new polling – on buses, parks and outsourcing - to show that people want transparency, accountability and public ownership
