Local Public Ownership Awards - winners announced!

10 October 2017

The time has come to announce the winners of the 2017 Local Public Ownership Awards! We’re running these awards in partnership with LocalGov, who publish the latest news and research about the local government sector.

For the last few months, we’ve been asking you to vote for your favourite examples of local public ownership. We shared stories from Aberdeen to Slough, flood defenses in Cumbria to social work in Buckinghamshire, and over 4000 of you cast your votes!

Voting has now closed, so without further ado - here are your Local Public Ownership champions:

1st: Robin Hood Energy

2nd: Nottingham City Transport

3rd: Bristol Energy

Thank you to everyone who voted, and congratulations to our winners!

Don’t worry if your council didn’t win this time. We still think they’re great, and we love to shout about examples of amazing local public ownership. Plus, there’s always next year!

We’ll be treating the winners to lunch in Nottingham Castle, where we will present them with their award and find out how they run such well-loved public services.
