British Gas was a public asset working for the benefit of everyone in the country until Margaret Thatcher floated it on the stock market in 1986. 

Privatisation was supposed to offer us lower bills and a better service. We were all supposed to get shares but actually, Centrica, the parent company of British Gas, is mostly owned by financial institutions.

Now would be the perfect time to buy back British Gas. Here's why:
