Protect NHS staff not private profits
We’re all doing our best to help save lives. Doctors, nurses and care staff are working around the clock to keep us safe.
But the government is making the crisis worse right now by handing out chunks of NHS staff and services to private companies, who put cost-cutting before care.(1)
Lots of suppliers want to help with PPE but the privatised companies running the NHS Supply Chain are failing.(2) Hospitals are less safe because private cleaning companies cut corners.(3) Testing centres are being run by scandal-ridden companies Serco, Sodexo and Deloitte, an accountancy firm which has mixed up people’s results.(4)
Now we’re all at risk.
Now and when the clapping is over, put safety first – not profits:
1. Make sure all staff have the PPE and testing they need. Our NHS should be in charge of this emergency to protect people.
2. Bring all NHS staff back into the NHS family. Outsourced staff are squeezed by private companies with a knock on impact on care.(5)
3. Reinstate our NHS as a fully public service as soon as this crisis is over.(6)
NHS staff deserve better after everything they’ve done for us.
Let's thank them by putting safety before private profits.

(1) Outsourcing our NHS services to private companies - whether it's cleaning, facilities management, GP 'out of hours' services, treatment centres, clinical services or IT - has often damaged the quality of patient care.
